Elizabeth Teixeira

Elizabeth “Beth” Teixeira is a trial lawyer specializing in medical malpractice, personal injury, medical device liability and wrongful death cases for plaintiffs.

The daughter of a Navy veteran, Beth’s family eventually settled down in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she grew up. Beth graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Wesleyan College. She immediately went on to obtain her Master’s degree from George Mason University focusing her studies in risk and health communication. Beth’s research involved families who were managing the parent’s cancer diagnosis, and her work in this area was published in both peer-reviewed academic journals and textbooks.

Driven by a need to see results from her work that helped families on an individual level, Beth went on to George Mason School of Law. While in law school, Beth was a summer intern for the San Diego Public Defender where she gained experience in the court room on almost daily basis. She also spent two years working for a law firm in Washington, D.C. that focused their practice in special education law and overseeing special needs trusts for children.

After law school, Beth relocated to San Diego, California. For the next 14 years, Beth worked at Vaage Law where she assisted the firm’s clients in obtaining over $60 million in settlements and awards for their injuries. In 2019, Beth helped her brain-injured client obtain a verdict against the County of San Diego for over $12.6 million, one of the largest recorded verdicts against the county for jail-related injuries. The judgment was upheld on appeal, and part of the appellate decision based on Beth’s legal arguments will assist future victims of multi-defendant medical malpractice cases maximize their recoveries post-verdict. In 2022, Beth helped her 9-year-old brain-injured client obtain a $25.6 million arbitration award against Kaiser as a result of medical malpractice from their care of him as an infant. This is believed to be one of the largest arbitration awards secured through the Kaiser arbitration system in California.

Beth’s favorite part of any trial or arbitration is guiding her clients and their families through their story of how their lives have been irrevocably changed by their injury or the death of a loved one. Her hands-on approach to damages throughout litigation helps her clients achieve the results they need to move forward with their lives.

When not working, Beth enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children. She actively volunteers at her children’s school and supports her kids’ budding football and baton twirling endeavors.
